Paisley Street, with its new focus on pedestrian and cycle movements will be a vibrant and safe community destination. Located in the heart of Footscray, Melbourne the regeneration of this streetscape will create a new safe connection through the CBD to and from the train station.
The reconfiguration of vehicles movements and widened footpaths will give the existing retailers new opportunity for external dining and retail adding back life and vibrancy to the street.
Robustness and durability and attention to detailing is key as ease of maintenance was a key requirement. Standard paving materials will have fine grain level of detail with a layering of both Council’s standard and custom streetscape furniture.
Water sensitive urban design garden beds will frame the street with seasonal colour and texture, while filtering out contaminants. Large trees will shade the street in summer and provided dappled light in winter.
